vrok straight from your machine

Share your localhost with a public URL

Your dev server is running on your laptop and someone else needs to see it. One command gives it a public HTTPS address. No account, no config file, no deploy.

In one command

Start your app as usual, then point vrok at its port:

vrok localhost:3000

vrok prints a public URL and copies it to your clipboard. Send it to anyone: a teammate, a client, your own phone. Press x to stop, and the URL stops working.

What keeps working

  • Hot reload. WebSockets pass through on the default route, so Vite, Next.js and webpack dev servers update live for the visitor.
  • Absolute asset paths. An app that loads /assets/app.js still works under the share URL.
  • HTTPS. The public URL is HTTPS even though your dev server is plain HTTP.
  • Any framework. vrok reverse-proxies whatever answers on the port: Rails, Django, Laravel, Express, Go, anything.

Common ports

Stack Command
Vite vrok localhost:5173
Next.js, Express, Rails vrok localhost:3000
Django vrok localhost:8000
Angular vrok localhost:4200
Anything else vrok localhost:PORT

Keep it private or short-lived

  • --password asks visitors for a password, or press p while it runs.
  • --ttl 1h closes the URL after an hour.
  • --local keeps it on your network, with no public tunnel at all.

Questions

How do I expose localhost to the internet for free?

Install vrok and run vrok localhost:3000 (use your app's port). You get a public HTTPS URL through a free Cloudflare quick tunnel, with no account.

Does hot reload work for the person I share with?

Yes, on the default route. WebSocket upgrades are passed through, so the visitor's page updates when you save. With a self-hosted relay they need to refresh.

Is it safe to share my localhost?

Only the port you name is reachable, and only while vrok runs. Add --password or --ttl to limit who can open it and for how long.

Do I need an account or a config file?

No. vrok needs no signup, no auth token and no config file.
